Tayo Aluko & Friends in association with Blackfest will celebrate the event by presenting a Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Festival, by, for, and with our community. Bring your voice, bring your instrument, and come to perform an orchestral/choral work from the famous Hiawatha trilogy, along with a glorious selection from his other ensemble pieces.
The evening will be completed by Tayo Aluko's acclaimed one-man play with songs, Coleridge-Taylor of Freetown*, followed by Q&A, to explore all the issues that the evening has raised.
Come and make music with others, or just come to enjoy the performance, share in the atmosphere, and meet new friends.
This will be a joyous opportunity to be part of a community of people with a shared interest in music, Black history and celebrating Britain’s most famous Black classical composer.
* TRIGGER WARNING: The play contains allusions to, and suggestions of gender-based and war violence.
