Join us for Summer Sounds - a packed programme of music on the bandstand at Strawberry Field. With free music events happening every weekend throughout the summer, Summer Sounds is the perfect family day out. Bring along your picnic blankets and deckchairs, and enjoy music in the garden as John Lennon did as a child.
Live on the bandstand on Saturday 15th June is Eagley Band.
Based in Bolton, Eagley Band was formed in 1850 and is one of the oldest, but most modern, brass bands in the World. Founded within Bolton’s Eagley Mills on the north side of the town, the band was known as Eagley Mills Band for over 120 years until 1971 when sadly the mills closed down.Now a registered UK charity, the Eagley musicians have already achieved over half a century of music making since the mills closed. The band has enjoyed many competitions, concerts and broadcasting highlights. Most recently, when the band was asked to perform at the Bolton Wanderers FC stadium to welcome home local celebrity Vernon Kay for BBC Children In Need.
Doors open from 10am with performances starting at 2pm. Free entry, but donations are welcome and appreciated.
Please note that there is no seating in the garden. Feel free to bring your own chairs and picnic blankets. Food and drink will be available to purchase in the Imagine More café.
