WAR

Why are we planning to get involved in another war?

I read this morning the Cameron says we have a moral obligation to intervene! I cannot see why!

If he is correct, then should we get involved in every issue involving attrocities anywhere in the world? Or is it that we follow the US lead religously? When will our government get a backbone in foreign policy issues?

Have we not learnt the lessons of Afghanistan and Iraq? Libya has not been a great success either!

Like in all other interventions, we have no clear understanding of how to get in, get out, minimise cassualties, and leave the country in a better state than when we arrived. The likelihood is that any intervention is only going to clear the way for more extreme fundamentalism to fill the void.

Historically, EVERY intervention by the west into the Middle East has led to more bloodshed. Short term planning, favouring todays favourites, but tomorrows enemies, has caused ALL of the current issues in the area, and we should now learn our lessons and stay out of it.

I'm not normally a fan of Russian foreign policy or Putin, but he may be correct in this instance.

Lastly, if it was anywhere else but the Middle East, say in Asia, would we allow our moral indignation to lead us into more war?
