Small Steps to being a Positive Force

Assume positive intent.

How we approach something always affects the outcome. How many times have we gone to a show, and really enjoyed it because we had an open mind.

Be Thankful to those around you

When we are aware of support people, be they cleaners or waiters, by saying thatnks we achieve so much. We affect their attitude but also have an immediate impact on our SOM and outlook. Does it give you a warm feeling to be apreciated?

Be appreciative of what you have.

Take the time to look at what you have, your family, your home, but also the freedoms. We often forget the freedoms. You can decide as you read this to drop off to the pub, have a nice pint, have a chat with the barmaid, buy a bottle of wine on the way home. Think for a moment what your life would be like without those simple freedoms.

Develop a moral compass.

Integrity is the one most important trait one can have and applying it to a business context adds to our SOM. A moral compass is a guide.  It’s a guide to doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Imagine if this was the norm in bsiness, and government.

Think of the other person first.

Do we talk too much and not listen enough. Two ears and one mouth, seems sometimes to suggest a challenge to make more noise. I blogged recently on what not to do when networking. Lets listen first!

Do what you enjoy.

or maybe it is bring enjoyment to what you do. I suspect that if you apply all the previous steps, enjoyment is a given.
