Liverpool's coolest school wants more stiudents now. The new academy for computer geeks, video whizzes and gamers opens its doors in September in the Baltic Creative quarter.

The Studio School, Liverpool, is part of a national initiative designed to nurture talent in creative industries. The school will emphasise use of technology as well as promoting enterprise and entrepreneurship. It is open to 14-19 year olds from across Merseyside.

The school will carry out the more usual curriculum activities like English and maths but is based on the world of work and will mirror that with the school day running from 9-5. A shuttle bus will operate from the city centre train stations.

An open evening will be held at the school on Wednesday August 14 at 6pm. The address is CUC, 41 Greenland Street, Liverpool.

It is thought there is a major skills gap in the digital industries which the government wants to address by skilling up young people.
