Hal Lever was involved in a car crash as the age of 21, with horrific consequences. He was left completely incapacitated, he was unable to walk, use his hands and unable to speak due to the shock. He had memory loss and spent six weeks in an infirmary and seven months in Psychiatric Hospital.
While trying to improve his speech, people assumed that he was retarded, due to his speech problems. He worked hard to counteract the paralysis and eventually began to speak faster. His words became slurred and again people assume that he was drunk or even high on drugs.
Autobiography
Yet, despite a history of traumatic events, he made an incredible recovery andwrote “I’m Not Drunk, Honest!” a best-selling autobiography. Between 2008/9 he toured 29 of Borders stores in the UK and sold over 12,000 copies.
