Work on an ambitious development of the Walton Centre is underway but support is still desperately needed to reach a £1m target.
The £28m expansion of the specialist neurological centre will house an enlarged rehabilitation unit but importantly it will also feature accommodation for relatives - provided via the £1m Home from Home appeal.
To help this appeal, the centre has launched Brick-by-Brick - an initiative to create a virtual wall dedicated to those who have organised fundraising events which have realised at least £500.

The development scheme at Walton neurological centre, which treats patients with brain and spine conditions, is a key part of a long-term plan to provide more services.
A new three storey building will house an expanded rehabilitation unit with 30 beds and the centre’s internationally famous pain management programme, the first to be set up in the UK.
The Trust has already opened a new 29-bed ward, an extra operating theatre and a new Neuroscience Research Centre, within the existing building.
.Chief executive Dr Liz Mear (pictured above) said: “We are now pressing ahead with a plan which enables us to provide first class services to more patients, with extra beds and new facilities.”
The charity directly benefits patients living with debilitating neurological conditions and in some cases, life threatening illnesses. f
