Flax to Fabric

Lisburn is steeped in the history of the Irish linen Industry and its museum has captured and preserved that history meticulously.

Hand spinning and hand loom weaving demonstrations ensure that the old craft skills are kept alive.  The museum also offers a programme of temporary exhibitions, including art and local history of Lisburn and the Lagan Valley

The collections include specialisms such as:

      • Fine Irish linen damask and costume
      • Lagan Valley artists
      • Local photographs
      • Excellent research library, which includes specialist linen related material.

The current programme of exhibitions and events for the museum can be found at the
