The Staffordshire Regiment Museum, a registered charity based in Whittington, Lichfield, offers a fascinating journey through over three centuries of military history. Open daily from 10am to 4pm, the museum welcomes both school groups and members of the public to explore its rich educational exhibits.
Visitors can follow the story of the Staffordshire Regiment from its formation in Lichfield in 1705 and its early service in the Caribbean, through nearly every conflict and campaign fought by Britain up to the modern day.
One of the museum’s most striking features is the Coltman Trench, a 100-metre reconstruction of a First World War British front-line trench. Named in honour of Lance Corporal William Coltman VC, it stands as a lasting tribute to him and all the Staffordshire soldiers who served during the Great War.
The museum also offers immersive Second World War exhibits, including an authentic pillbox, Anderson Shelter, WVS wagon, and WW2 street shelter—bringing history to life for visitors of all ages.
As a vital educational resource in Lichfield, the Staffordshire Regiment Museum provides a powerful and interactive insight into the lives, bravery, and sacrifices of those who served. For the latest opening times and event information, please visit the museum’s website.
