Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen & Arthur Price
Celebrate 2012 with a nice cuppa
Arthur Price, the UK’s leading manufacturer of cutlery and gifts, and everyone’s favourite designer, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen are brimming with national pride in 2012, which sees the launch of a pair of ‘Celebration’ themed mugs that complement the newly extended ‘Mugnificent’ range of fine bone china mugs.
With the continuing success of ‘Mugnificent’ Laurence has turned his talented hand to producing gift sets that commemorate our cultural identity. The first design ‘I dream of queenie’ pays tribute to HRH The Queen’s 60 Year Jubilee; featuring a bold purple design the mug is emblazoned with an irreverent twist of the phrase made famous by Marilyn Monroe - ‘Diamonds are a Queen’s best friend’. The second design ‘Mugly Betty’ is an intricately patterned piece that incorporates a series of heart shaped Union Flags throughout. The Celebration pieces will join two new ‘Mugnificent’ designs; Risque and Décolletage that both employ richly coloured floral devices.
Laurence explains the inspiration for the new Celebration designs: “I love being British. 2012 is such an exciting year in terms of how we present ourselves to the world. I want to extol a sense of patriotism, as well as glorify our amazing heritage. Tea drinking is something of a cultish ceremony in the UK which is why the mugs are an ideal platform for expressing that jingoism in a fun, playful manner.”
Simon Price, CEO of Arthur Price comments; “Laurence continues to surprise and delight us with his creative input. Celebration is a great reflection of Arthur Price’s values as a British, family-owned company. I think that the range will make great collector’s piece. We’re once again delighted with the finished designs.”
The mugs are available from the Arthur Price Factory Shop in Britannia Way Lichfield.
