The London Bollywood Orchestra - The Burmans - Royal and Rebel
  • De Montfort Hall
    Granville Road
    Leicester
    LE1 7RU
  • Saturday 17th April 7:30pm until 7:31pm
Following their massively successful debut earlier this year with Sounds of Mumbai, the London Bollywood Orchestra makes their highly anticipated return to De Montfort Hall.

Fresh from a sensational, sold-out performance at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace, the orchestra returns to Leicester with a spectacular new show celebrating two generations of Bollywood legends: father-and-son duo S. D. Burman and R. D. Burman.

A real-life royal, S. D. Burman brought graceful, melodic elegance to Indian cinema, while his son, the trailblazing R. D. Burman, broke boundaries and redefined Bollywood soundtracks with bold innovation. Together, their music shaped an era — and this performance brings it vividly to life.

What to expect:

  • World-Class Musicianship: Under the direction of acclaimed conductor Tim Pottier, the orchestra blends top-tier talent from the West End, London’s classical world, and its vibrant jazz scene.
  • Star-Studded Vocals: Award-winning vocalists Navin Kundra and Rekha lead the evening with powerful, emotive performances, capturing the heart and soul of the Burmans’ greatest hits.
  • A Journey Through Hits & Hidden Gems: Expect soaring vocals, rich orchestral arrangements, and a genre-defying soundtrack that spans decades.

Whether you loved Sounds of Mumbai or are experiencing the magic of the London Bollywood Orchestra for the very first time, this is a musical journey you won’t want to miss. Book your tickets early to secure the best seats for this spectacular return!

About the artists:

  • Tim Pottier (Music Director): Tim has arranged for the BBC Proms tribute to Lata Mangeshkar, the CBSO’s Best of Bollywood, and major international tours with Sonu Nigam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
  • Navin Kundra: Navin’s distinctive vocals have earned praise from music legends including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Cliff Richard, and Shaan — and even caught the attention of King Charles.
  • Rekha: A powerhouse performer whose theatre credits include Bend It Like Beckham and Bhangra Nation. Fresh from performing alongside the legendary A. R. Rahman at the Royal Albert Hall, Rekha has also collaborated with massive industry names such as Shankar Mahadevan, Naughty Boy, and Ellie Goulding.
