BRAHMS Symphony No.2
Great friends Dvorák and Brahms feature as the Bardi open their new concert season with this exciting return to De Montfort Hall.
The first of four guest conductors this season, Natalia Luis-Bassa is a professor of conducting at the Royal College of Music and an experienced music educator at all levels, working with the National Children’s Orchestra and the Benedetti Foundation.
Cellist Lydia Shelley returns to the Bardi to perform Dvorák’s Cello Concerto and the much-loved Second Symphony by Brahms concludes the concert. The concert starts with a burst of Mexican sunshine in Kauyumari by Gabriela Ortiz. Fast becoming a concert staple since its 2021 premier, its driving folk rhythms make the perfect opening to the Bardi’s New Horizons concert season.
