An opportunity for Lambeth and Southwark based 18-25 year olds to gain creative experience and skills in archiving.

Are you aged 18–25, living in Lambeth or Southwark, and looking to kickstart a career in the creative industries? Join Archive Reframed: The Bill Tonkin Collection!

Southbank Centre is looking for 15 volunteers to discover more about the world of archiving by helping process a very special collection of historic materials from the Festival of Britain in 1951.

Learn the rules of archiving, and then team up with designers to disrupt those rules by creating a zine-style print catalogue interpreting the collection. This print catalogue will be showcased at a public launch event, celebrating your work and The Bill Tonkin Collection.

No prior experience is needed, just a passion for creativity, heritage and storytelling.   If you want to learn more about the project, attend an application day on Wednesday 21 January to meet the Southbank Centre's Archive team, see archives from the Bill Tonkin Collection, and ask any questions you have.

Who can apply?

Participants should:

  • Be aged 18-25 years old
  • Be a resident in Lambeth or Southwark
  • Be out of full-time employment or looking to explore an alternative career
  • Be available to attend the project session dates.

Deadline to apply is Monday 2 February. The project sessions will take place between 24 February to 7 April, with the launch event in May.
