With festival season officially under way, a Knutsford care home is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

Care UK’s Cranford Grange, in Knutsford is opening its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

On Friday 7th August, from 4.30pm-6pm, visitors will be taken on a tour of flavours from around the world, with residents serving up cherished dishes reminiscent of their favourite destinations.

The event will feature foods including Spanish-inspired chicken and chorizo paella, Italian caprese salad and lemon panna cotta, using seasonal produce and specially prepared by the home’s head chef.

As they enjoy the food, guests can sit back and listen to entertainer Jayne MacFarlane perform age-old classics.

In the run-up to the day, residents have been making bunting out of old clothes and bedding, with the help of the local Knutsford Beavers and Squirrels.

Resident Diana Shone, 87, said: “My favourite childhood food was eating cheese and dried fruit. We didn’t go abroad due to the war, but my sister moved to New Zealand, and I loved visiting her, so anything to remember trips abroad is a fantastic event.”

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will offer sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
