Norfolk County Council Trading Standards are warning residents about a new twist in an internet scam.

A Norwich resident received a pop up message claiming to be from Strathclyde Police. The message states that the person’s computer has been locked by the Police and they will need to call a given number and pay a £100 fine for a supposed illegal act.

If the computer owner responds they will be asked to send the money by Moneygram.

Strathclyde Police have confirmed that this is an internet scam and they would never ask the public for money.
