NORFOLK SCAM ALERT - BT Collection Service Scam
23rd January 2012
... Comments

Victims are phoned by a professional sounding male who states that the victim’s account is unpaid and money is owed immediately or the phone will be cut off.

The caller requests credit card details for payment.

The caller suggests he can prove that he can easily cut off the phone by telling the victim to hang up and try dialling out.

It is believed the caller puts them on ‘hold’ so the line remains connected but the victim believes the line is disconnected.

The caller will call back and try again to get credit card details.

Never give account or personal details over the phone.
