Green-fingered individuals from King's Lynn were last week rewarded for their efforts at a joint prize presentation ceremony for the annual allotment awards and the King's Lynn in Bloom front garden competition.

Judges were once again faced with some tough decisions as the standards demonstrated were very high.

Cabinet Member Cllr Elizabeth Nockolds explained: "I've been involved in the allotment awards for many years, and every year I am amazed at how creative and productive people are in their allotments. We've been really impressed by what people have achieved."

Judging for the allotment awards took place last month and the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Elizabeth Watson, presented the awards and certificates to the winners at a special presentation on Thursday night.

Winners of the King's Lynn in Bloom front garden competition were also presented with their certificates. Cllr Elizabeth Nockolds, added: "We've seen some simply stunning front gardens this year. It can really give the local community a lift when they see a welcome splash of colour in a beautiful garden that someone has obviously worked hard on. I'm really pleased that we are able to recognise people's efforts in this way."

Judging for the King's Lynn front garden competition was carried out earlier this month by members of King’s Lynn Horticultural Society, who will be holding their Annual show in South Wootton village hall on 20 August.
