Dirty Canvas Club returns to the Troubadour for their July special.
We've been fortunate enough to have the legendary London Rockers The Dirty Strangers and their club of dirtiness here every month since September 2017. This July we welcome them back..
The Dirty Strangers - A London based Rock'N'Roll band carrying a torch for rootsy Rock'N'Roll as invented by Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and Chuck Berry, but laced with a little bit of Otis Redding Soul and a side order of Punk attitude. Arresting and Seductive, Its Dirty Rock'N'Roll and you'll like it. Famed for gigging widely over the past 3 decades and working alongside such stars as Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Bobby Keys (The Rolling Stones) Brian James (The Damned / Lords Of The New Church), John Sinclair (MC5), Guy Griffin, Guy Bailey (The Quireboys) Dave 'Bucket' Colwell (Bad Company / Humble Pie) Bernie Torme (ex Gillan / Ozzy Osbourne Band) and Phil Spalding (Mick Jagger, Roger Daltrey) among others....
Special Guest Guitarist - Guy Griffin (The Quireboys)
Special Guest Guitarist - Guy Bailey (The Quireboys founder)
Special Guest Support - Paul-Ronney Angel (The Urban Voodoo Machine) - "The Urban Voodoo Machine came to him in 2002 as a fully-formed idea. He'd lead a band who'd play 'Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues Bop'n'Stroll'. They'd dress in black and red. There would be a LOT of them. And their music would sound like a great night out in a dangerous part of town. From the get-go, The UVM fused junkyard blues and stinging rockabilly with mariachi horns, fiddles, sinister cabaret and punk rock tangos. "I wanted to play rock'n'roll music with a different instrumentation," says Angel, "taking inspiration from everything from delta blues, latin and gypsy music without losing the spirit and attitude of punk." His lyrics - part Lemmy, part Bob Dylan - made other (more acclaimed) songwriters sound totally. Fucking. Boring.."
Followed by RockNRoll abandon - the Dirty Secrets afterhours club - DJ Cruel Valentino until 2am.
