Arrived late morning. I recommend buying tickets a day or more in advance as that is when they are cheapest. Buying online on the day is a bit more expensive, but still cheaper than buying on site.
The grounds are beautiful to walk around and a welcome bonus to seeing all the animals. Whilst a small zoo compared to other more international destinations, my wife and I still spent several hours here walking around. Our personal highlight was the aviary you could walk through to see lots of Asian birds. I loved the java sparrow when it did appear.

Near the entrance is a lovely picnic area with the resident red-breasted geese chilling and relaxing on the grass. The cafe in the entrance sells takeaway coffee in case you need a pick-me-up before beginning your tour. Just remember to wear loose/baggy clothes as the reptile area, tortoise tunnel, and butterfly area are very warm inside! And if you have time, definitely take some time to visit the on-site charity shop. Got a few bargains to take home 😄

Interesting background and committed to supporting endangered wildlife. Although some enclosures empty and overgrown could benefit from some TLC but still worth a visit

This was our third visit over several years and always find that this a better site than many other zoos. However it is staring to look tired. Many paths uneven and many enclosures need maintenance. Even if you are rewilding you need to maintain enclosures. This is a great site and we hope it will not be allowed to decline.

If you’re ever in Jersey and don’t visit La Mare Wine Estate
what are you even doing? 😄

My sister and I went this weekend to celebrate her 50th birthday, and it was such a lovely treat. From the moment we arrived, it was such a warm, relaxed atmosphere; set in a peaceful and beautiful location that immediately makes you feel like you’re in for something special.

Our guide, Helen, absolutely made the experience. Incredibly knowledgeable, effortlessly funny, and somehow managed to make us feel both well-informed and like we were just having a laugh with a friend. A true 5⭐ guide.

The wines were delicious (yes, we tried a few đŸ·), and the famous black butter definitely lived up to the hype; dangerously good. We also had lunch in the cafĂ©, which was absolutely delicious and such a lovely addition to the day.

It’s really easy to get to on the bus too, which makes it a perfect, stress-free outing.

Honestly, such a brilliant experience from start to finish. We left happy and already recommending it to everyone we know.

Would 100% go back; and next time, we might even pretend to understand the wine notes properly. 😉

Great tour and of course the tasting! Helen and Andrew were very knowledgeable. We went on the number 7 bus and it was so convenient as it stops right outside. Highly recommended.

Husband and I used a gift voucher on Good Friday for a guided tasting tour and highly recommend it. Included a very short tour of the vines (due to bad weather), explanation of the vine to bottle process, video and tastings of La Mare cider, their white, rose and red wines and homemade chocolates, finished off with a tasting of their cream liqueur. Took approx. 1 hour and was led by Louise, who was charming and very knowledgeable, and accompanied by Bob, also charming! Really interesting and even though we’re local we learnt some things about Jersey. Followed up with lunch in the cafe afterwards which, as usual, delicious. Recommended for local and visitors alike.

I highly recommend taking the vineyard tour at La Mare. Special thanks to our tour guide Andrew for taking the time to answer all my questions and making it such a interesting and informative experience. Also make sure to leave time to check out the gift shop afterwards, the selection of products the estate produce is very varied!
