  • Friday 1st August - Until Wednesday 15th October
Meet Rose Le Brun, the Bouonnefemme at Hamptonne, who will let you in on local secrets and village gossip. Rose’s predecessor, Old Maud, had been at Hamptonne for years, but she travelled to St Aubin to see family and never returned. Perhaps the plague got her - they had a lot of it down there.

Rose was born in the parish of St Lawrence in 1606, has lived in the area her entire life and knows its stories. As the Bouonnefemme, she is not just a housekeeper, she is a vital part of the community, and she knows all the local secrets and village gossip. Her sharp eye and eager ear make her the perfect source of all the news that circulates through the parish. Rose is also happy to share her wealth of knowledge about the history of the place. Whether it is the rural traditions, medicines or the food, her stories offer a unique and engaging perspective on the day-to-day realities of life in the 1600s.
