The birth of a gorilla is always a major event and the arrival of a baby for Kahili on 27th September was great news for both the species and Durrell.
This is the first gorilla birth at Durrell for 9 years, the father is Badongo who was only recently introduced to the Durrell gorilla family as the new resident dominant silverback so the future is looking good.
While Durrell were initially uncertain as to the sex of the baby they have just announced that it is a male. Both he and mum are doing well and looking forward to welcoming many new visitors to Durrell who will wish to visit them.
Please pop along to Durrell and say ‘hi’ to Kahili, Badongo and their new son.
