Visited here in September prior to our wedding week and was not disappointed. We pre-booked and articulated that a vegan was attending (always noteworthy especially in a restaurant that specialises in fish!). To our surprise a full vegan menu was available with some great options on, which instantly made my vegan partner very happy (and me to as its always tricky finding somewhere that does good vegan food alongside fish).
The food was amazing, I sat down to an amazing special of spicy scallops followed by plaice fish and chips and my partners vegan choices were just as amazing!I can highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back on our next visit as we were so impressed by the service, food and location!

Dave and Kirstie are at the very top of their game. Food, service, atmosphere ... excellent. All food is locally sourced and cooked to perfection. Their menu is varied with something for everyone. Very reasonably priced for such high quality food. You must try it if you are visiting Jersey. Suggest you book... as the locals fill it up quickly!!
Keep up the good work guys!

I thought it was high time I gave the Bass and Lobster the credit it deserves.
In short, this is THE place that we always (unless we forget to book in time!), ALWAYS bring visitors to... or indeed friends from over in the West of the island, provided they remember their passport ;-)
From Kirsty on front of house, plus her excellent team of service staff... through to the consistely top notch food from Dave and his team in the kitchen, we're left wanting for nothing, every single time. I couldn't recommend the B&L more.
5 stars (or dots, in this case), with no hesitation.

The restaurant was relatively quiet but we had two tables of fellow diners which added to the atmosphere. The serving staff were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the food which they had every right to be as it was superb. Clearly an inventive and adventurous chef who is really making the most of local produce. We all had the chorizo and scallop starter and I think they were the best scallops I have ever had. Really exceptional.

During our very recent stay in Gorey we ate out twice for dinner; we definitely chose the right places! As with my other review - first thing to note is DO book in advance. These places are popular for a reason and we're not talking tourists....
Great dining area - well two areas really, so you can keep an atmosphere going regardless of size of party, what time of night etc. Fab and engaging front of house. Excellent choice of drinks from apero's through wines, to digestifs.
The menu is especially interesting and trying - and succeeding - to be a bit different. The spicy southern fried oysters are outrageously edible. The table next to us had a plateful and ordered more. I had the oysters (you can buy individually) as a pre-starter, even though you get a free pre-starter anyway, so that was two tapas basically before we even got started! Both the crab and the pork & stilton croquettes starters were superb - loads going on, yet still light. They are also flexible with the menu - I had a scallops starter turned into a mains-sized portion (6 scallops instead of 3). The duck was also superb. Mad and crazy selection of home-made sorbets (sweet and savoury) that feature on various dishes, and/or as a dessert option.
VFM for the quality is excellent. Perspective: there are plenty of pubs on Jersey offering good quality food (though I am generally of the "pubs for beer and resto's for eating" mindset) but resto's like the Bass and Lobster are in a different league, quality wise. But... they are barely any more expensive (if at all) than their pub counterparts.

Visited Jersey therefore I had to visit the fabulous Bass & Lobster. Food was exquisite and the service was impeccable. Kirsty at the front of house is excellent and so friendly.
Had the pan-fried Bass and Lobster which was amazing and worth every penny. The unusual Ice creams are a great talking point and delicious - be brave and try one the are great.

We came across this hidden gem on a day trip to Gorey and popped in for lunch time snack. We ended up with the 3 courses for £26 . I had Caesar salad and the waitress said that the dressing would be the best we’d ever had. She didn’t lie! We had fish and chips and the fish that day was Pollock, the batter was light and golden, the chips were freshly cooked with a dusting of paprika. The home made tartar sauce was amazing. I topped off with a crème brulee which came with a light shortbread biscuit and a beautiful raspberry sorbet.
The owner of the place runs it with her husband who is the chef. They are both obviously passionate about what they do and it showed in the quality of the food they served. They said they get most of their trade from locals and some recommendations. When we were there, it was very quiet so if you are visiting the area, pop along to this gem. If you are not visiting the area, make the effort to go, you will not be disappointed.

Went for lunch today for the first time and we were blown away; the food was outstanding! Apologies for the noises coming from our table, lots of 'ooh's' and 'mmm's'. 😅
Lovely, relaxed atmosphere, not pretentious at all and the people who served us were fabulous. Cannot wait to go back.

Have been to this restaurant twice recently and each time it was excellent. Beautifully cooked fresh food served by well trained attentive staff. Little wonder they are busy. Well done everyone involved.

Well what can i say that hasn't already been said. Food is the best on the island and I've eaten in them all !! If you only go out to eat out once, then this place has to be at the top of the list. Keep up the good work.

Probably the best meal I've had! Outstanding and attentive service. We had a few people with allergies and the staff went far out of their way to make us feel safe. Their homemade icecreams are a must try. The whole menu was super interesting things to try but still all tempting and comforting. So nice to see its all locally sourced too. This meal was the best bit of our visit to Jersey and such great value for money.

This was one of several visits this summer as the inclination to eat elsewhere in Jersey has completely diminished.
It is difficult to think of anywhere else on the island with the same level of quality with regards to dishes (food quality, locality, innovation and presentation) and the same commitment to high quality, personal feeling customer service.
In a world where prices are rising and hospitality is struggling for staff, the Bass & Lobster always manage to deliver what often seems impossible in Jersey: 5 star customer service and food at an affordable price.
Gorey village is a few minutes’ walk away and there is a bus stop opposite, so this is a great choice if visiting the island on holiday.
That is a scoop of bacon, honey and mustard ice cream you can see with my starter of locally sourced scallops. I’m still thinking about it now!
10/10
