Fun in the Sun.

So the sun has finally come out in Islington. It looks like we’ll only get a few days of good weather before the clouds come in and temperatures drop back to the low teens judging by the weather forecasts anyway.

So here are a few ways to take advantage of the good weather around Islington.

Head to Highbury Fields for the largest open area in Islington where there are tennis courts a football pitch and a childrens play area. You can also from time to time find fee activities there such as runs.

Unfortunately there aren’t a huge amount of green spaces around Islington. In fact I think it has the lowest amount of open space in any London borough outside of Westminster and The City of London. However Finsbury Park on the edge of Islington is also a good option if you’re around that way. You can even hire a boat and go for a little row. The last boat is around 5:30 so if you have the day off with the kids that probably a good option. Click here for some more details

If you fancy having a drink in the sun on the other hand there are plenty of bars and pubs in Islington that have great outdoor spaces. The Albion is always a favourite around Islington and has a huge beer garden, however in that area I much prefer the Drapers Arms which has a much nicer garden with a more cosy feel to it. The Lord Clyde down Essex Road is another good pub with a nice beer garden the staff and 2 owners are always friendly and have built a really good pub there over the last few years.
