Well who'd have thought it, summer has arrived at last! Well at least for a few days anyway. For those of us who are staying in Islington for the weekend I though I might suggest a few good beer gardens to visit, mainly because it's my birthday tomorrow and I plan on visiting one or two myself...
Clearly one of the best beer gardens around has to be The Albion. Great massive space out back and a few seats out front. They do a great BBQ in the summer but not sure if they will still be offering them now as it's October! So if it's eating in the sunshine you're looking for best to check if they've got one on as I can't find anything on their site and I know they don't tend to serve much food in the garden.
For an alternative type of garden you can visit The Castle on Pentoville Road. It has a lovely roof terrace to sit out on although you will have to listen to the noise of the traffic passing. However I'm a great fan of roof terraces even if they are overlooking Pentoville road!
If you fancy going further afield check out the The Crown Tavern down in trendy Clerkenwell. Usually a favourite of the office workers in the area but don't let that put you off as you don't get many city types here and you have the square in front with seating. Do be warned if you go tonight it will be rammed from about 5 on.
My personal favourite is a little out side Islington and closer to Kentish town but trust me it's a hidden gem. The Lion and Unicorn and Gaisford Street recently refurbished pub on has two beers gardens secluded and tucked away from the main streets in the area. The food is very good and they do a BBQ during the summer but again not sure if they will be doing one this weekend since it is almost winter.
