On Thursday 8th May, Care UK’s Asterbury Place, on Aster Road, is welcoming local people to honour the 80th anniversary of VE Day with their very own 1940s-themed parties.
VE Day was celebrated on 8th May 1945, after Prime Minister Winston Churchill made an announcement on the radio that the war in Europe had come to an end. This emotional news sparked celebrations across the country, with many taking to the streets for spontaneous parties.
At Asterbury Place, the team has been hard at work organising a special commemorative event, which will take place from 2pm-5pm, and see residents and guests enjoy a 1940s-themed party, complete with a delicious afternoon tea and entertainment.
Victoria Barber, Home Manager at Asterbury Place, said: “Here at Asterbury Place, we’re always grateful for an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with the community, so we’re looking forward to welcoming people for a special event marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day.”
Asterbury Place provides high-quality residential, dementia, nursing and respite care and is designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives. The homes offer plenty of space – both indoors and out – for relaxation and recreation and comprehensive activity programmes, offering a mix of themed events, group activities and days out. The homes offer luxury facilities, including a cinema room, hair and beauty salon and café.
