On Friday 7th August, from 2.30-4pm, Care UK’s Prince George House will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
The home will be welcoming visitors to their international cuisine showcase, with tasting stations displaying favourite cuisines of the residents and team members, including jerk chicken, traditional Romanian pie, fish and chips, Victoria sponge cake, Knödel with Frikadellen and more. Visitors will also be able to enjoy live entertainment from The Accordian Man as part of the festivities.
Neil Barker, resident at Prince George House, said: “As an ex-publican, I know the importance and value of good food, and I'm really looking forward to this special event and tasting the different dishes on offer.”
The events are part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and share what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Each home offers full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
