             WHAT’S ON IN HUNTINGDON AND ST IVES THIS WEEKEND 

The Christmas celebrations start this week with a whole host of events including making your own decorations and the Christmas light switch on in both Huntingdon and St Ives on Sunday. Not quite ready for Christmas yet? Don't worry there are lots of non-Christmas events on too.

Weekend long events.

Ever fancied making your own Christmas decorations? Then why not take this opportunity at Wicken Fen’s ‘Christmas Decoration Workshop’ and give it a go. Use rush and willow to make stars, hearts and other traditional decorations for your house, tree or table. With a choice of Friday and Saturday to choose from, what’s stopping you?

St Ives Antique Fair is back at The Burgess Hall, for a weekend long display of all things from yesteryear. Including paintings, postcards, jewellery, militaria and much more. This event is on both Saturday and Sunday, 10am – 4pm.

Friday 18th November  

End your week by enjoying a relaxing cup of coffee at The A14 Networking at The Taproom, St Ives, and meet other local businesses.

After networking pop over to St Ives Corn Exchange, for the Country Market, or take a trip into Huntingdon, and visit the Farmers Market, for a range of homemade, home grown local produce.

 Join Screen St Ives at The Corn Exchange, as they host their monthly cinema showing. This month it is the captivating film following the life of an Amazonian shaman and his ever-changing relationship with the modern world, in ‘Embrace of the Serpent’. Cert 12A.

Saturday 19th November

Visit Huntingdon town for their bi-weekly market, or St Ives Farmers Market, for fresh, local produce.

Car Boots today are at Huntingdon Racecourse.

Browse St Ives Corn Exchange’s Cinnabar Fairs, for that unusual gift, whether you are getting a start on Christmas shopping, buying for a birthday or just treating yourself to something special, you are bond to find something of interest here.

Treat your young animal enthusiast to a day of hands on experience at The Raptor Foundation, as they host for the first time, a Junior Keepers Day. There are only 10 places available so book now to save disappointment.

Following on with the animal theme, take your children over to Fen Drayton Lakes, for a spot of Wildlife Watching. For children aged 6-12years old, they get to enjoy fun wildlife activities, looks for signs and tracks of the wildlife that is around.

Test out your knowledge and take part in The Norris Museum’s Mega Quiz! Tickets are only £10 and include a pizza supper. There will also be a grand prize raffle!

Huntingdonshire Philharmonic Choral and Orchestral Concert, are back for their 40th Anniversary Season, Russian Romantics and Revolutionaries. Join them for an evening of musical entertainment.

 

 Sunday 20th November

You can visit Car Boot Sales today at Huntingdon Racecourse.

Join Huntingdon as they start the Christmas celebrations by the turning on of this years Christmas Lights. With an array of entertainment starting from 1pm there will be lots to get you into the Christmas spirit. There will be a Santa’s Grotto and Elf workshop, Donkeys at the Live Nativity and much more, with the big switch on at 5.15pm.

Instead of Huntingdon, you could pop into St Ives, as they prepare for the Christmas Season with their Lights Switch on. With a large Christmas Market, selling crafts and products, Italian and Polish stalls and of course mulled wine and cider and even a mini gin festival. For the children Santa’s grotto will be open all day, there will be fairground rides and face painting. Live entertainment will build up to the Father Christmas turning the lights on at 5pm, followed by a fireworks display.
