On Friday 7th August from 12 pm, Care UK’s Driffield Manor will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
Visitors to the Middle Street home can look forward to an immersive American diner-themed experience. As part of the event, the home’s restaurant will be transformed into an American-style diner, complete with flags and record memorabilia. Team members will also be dressed as Pink Ladies and T-birds in true ‘Grease’ fashion.
Guests will be treated to a range of American classics including burgers, hot dogs and milkshakes, followed by a roller-skating duo act.
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Donna Henderson, Home Manager at Driffield Manor, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to our very own food festival!
“We are part of a strong community here in Driffield, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food, while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.
“The day not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
