Care UK’s Whitby Dene will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival this August, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
Whitby Dene in Eastcote will be hosting a food festival on Thursday 6th August from 2pm–4pm, and the care home will be transformed into an oasis of different tastes, cultures and traditions, with resident-led food stalls, accompanied by bongo music and activities to enjoy.
Resident John Chrzczonowicz, 67, said: “Some of my favourite childhood memories involve making curry puffs, bread and butter pudding, fried chicken, and rice and peas. I’m excited for this event and to relive those memories, and welcome everyone to our beautiful home.”
This event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will offer sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
