On Friday 7th August from 1pm–3pm, Care UK’s Franklin Housewill open its doors to families and neighbours for a free food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
Visitors to the home on The Green (off Rickard Close) can look forward to anaround-the-world food market, featuring much-loved recipes and traditions from the residents and team members such as chicken curry, Chinese noodles, prawns pulao, fish and chips, chilli con carne, and Moroccan lamb.
Resident Y. W. said: “I am looking forward to the event, especially because of the different types of food to be tasted. My favourite dish is roast beef with roast potatoes and rice pudding. It’s a comforting traditional Sunday dinner that I remember from my childhood.”
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will seeCare UK homes across the countryhost foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will offer sustainable, community-focused activities while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipesto seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
