This month's meeting of the Bucks Pottery and Sculpture Society is the second of our summer afternoon meetings and will include a making session introducing working with porcelain paperclay, hosted by long-time members Carol Read, Jane Ostler and Paula Sutton.
Porcelain paperclay mixes delicate clay with paper fibres, making it incredibly strong while also being easy to repair. You can make super-thin vessels, intricate sculptures, and pressed-flower trays. Because the paper burns away in the kiln, the clay is perfect for building advanced projects without cracking.
In this making session we will explore the different ways to use paperclay, and you will have the opportunity to make a small item of your choice. It would be helpful to bring a few handbuilding tools with you, plus a board and something to take your item home in.
The meeting will be held at Little Kingshill Village Hall (HP16 0DZ) on Friday 28th August from 2-4pm. Entry is free for BPSS members, £5 for visitors. For information about the Society see our website www.buckspotters.com - we are also on Facebook and Instagram.
