In this month’s meeting of the Bucks Pottery and Sculpture Society there will be a hands-on demonstration by guest speaker Clare Tatarek.
Having discovered the joy of decorating via a Paint Your Own Pottery shop, Clare went on to learn how to throw and fire her own work so that she could continue and expand her range. Her greatest joy is in carving designs into the clay before it fully hardens. This is a time consuming technique, especially if the finished article is to be multicoloured as the translucent glazes Clare uses require three coats. You can see examples of her work at www.tatarekpottery.co.uk.
This will be a hands-on carving demo so bring a leatherhard item (tile/bowl/vase etc) and your carving tools if you are able (there will be some spare leatherhard tiles for anyone unable to bring their own).
The meeting will be held at Little Kingshill Village Hall on Friday 30th January from 8-10pm. Entry is free for BPSS members, £5 for visitors. For information about the Society see our website at www.buckspotters.com - we are also on Facebook and Instagram.
