In this month's meeting of the Bucks Pottery and Sculpture Society our guest speaker will be James Ort (from the Phoenix Studio in Towersey) who will be demonstrating how he makes his ceramic wildlife sculptures.
James has always been interested in the natural world; from investigating pondlife as a child, then studying biology at university, followed by working in conservation, his focus has been consistently aimed at wildlife. Then he discovered the joy of sculpting and fell in love with clay modelling. He finds clay to be a fascinating medium - he makes animal sculptures using clay and wire, adding colourful slips and glazes to bring them to life. You can see examples of his work at www.jamesort.co.uk
The meeting will be held at Little Kingshill Village Hall (HP16 0DZ) on Friday 27th February from 8-10pm. Entry is free for BPSS members, £5 for visitors. For information about the Society see our website at www.buckspotters.com - we are also on Facebook and Instagram.
