Care UK’s Buchanan Court, on Sudbury Hill, is opening its doors to residents of Harrow and surrounding areas for its Book Clubon Wednesday 18th November, from 10.30am–12.30pm,as part of their permanent community hub at the home. 

On the third Wednesday of every month, local peopleareencouraged to visit the home’s café and enjoy refreshments and freshly baked treats in good company. The Book Club is open to everyone and offers more than just great books. It's an opportunity to meet like-minded people, enjoy stimulating conversation, make new friendships, and become part of a vibrant community. 

Whether you're passionate about reading or simply looking for a friendly place to connect with others, you'll be warmly welcomed for engaging discussions, laughter, and companionship. 

Avid reader Prunella Webb, 86, who helped to launch the new club, said: "Reading is an escape. It allows you to forget everything around you and become immersed in the creativity of a writer, turning words on a page into vivid pictures in your mind." 

Laurentiu Iordachescu, Home Manager at Buchanan Court, said: “We'realwayslooking for ways to have a positive impact on our community, and we believe that a shared love of books can lead to wonderful connections.  

“Engaging in hobbies like reading is especially important for residents, and it's been lovely to see Prunella's passion for starting up this Book Club – a space where everyone iswelcome to share recommendations, discuss the books and enjoy themselves.  

“We’re looking forward to meeting some new faces while chatting away over a cup of tea and a page-turning novel.” 

Buchanan Court provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care.
