
Care UK’s care home, Buchanan Court will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festivals this August, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
From 2.30pm–3.30pm on Thursday 6th August, visitors to Buchanan Court in Harrow can look forward to British seaside-inspired dishes with traditional fish and chips wrapped in newspaper, and the opportunity to make lavender bags from the home's bush. Residents will also be putting on a special performance for guests to tap their feet to, using recycled items as instruments.
These events arepart of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will seeCare UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
The festival will offer sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Laurentiu Iordachescu, Home Manager at Buchanan Court, said: “We’re so excited to welcome the people of West London to our home for our British Seaside food festival.
“Not only will we be serving delicious food using seasonal ingredients, but guests can also take part in our upcycling activity, Lavender bag making, led by our Lifestyle Coordinator, Sarah Sunitha. Upcycling is a great way to reduce waste and get creative, and residents are looking forward to sharing their skills and inspiring others to think differently about the things we throw away.”
