A leading voice on diversity and social justice, she is the author of acclaimed books including In Defence of Political Correctness; Refusing the Veil; and Exotic England: The Making of a Curious Nation.
Her work has earned widespread recognition: she has won awards such as the Orwell Prize for Political Writing and the National Press Awards’ Columnist of the Year in 2017. She has also been voted among the top 10 most influential Asians in Britain and holds eight honorary degrees.
