The  Stockeld Park Christmas Adventure is not to be missed.

I took my family there this weekend and we saw the Santa Sleigh parade.  The kids got to “high five” a reindeer, some elves, a polar bear and a snowman and watch Santa walk past on his sleigh with real reindeer.

The activities at the Christmas Adventure are the same as the Halloween Adventure  you can pay to go to each activity separately or you can choose to buy a day pass which gives you access to all activities: Illuminated Enchanted Forest, Nordic Ski Trail, Real Ice Rink and fun-filled Maze.

1.    The Maze (actually shaped like a snowflake)– this activity is the same all year round but it’s illuminated as it gets dark during the Christmas Adventure. Find musical instruments, hear interesting sounds and discover the Castle Viewing Tower.

2.    The ‘Illuminated’ Enchanted Forest – this is probably the best activity in the park.  The path is wide and suitable for prams and pushchairs.  As it gets dark you discover a whole new set of characters that are illuminated, like the red dragon and the Ice Queen.  Rapunzel, the Witch, the troll, the giant, the fairies & goblins, little red riding hood, the talking tree, to name but a few, are some of what you can expect to see along the way.  The children can enjoy themed playgrounds along the way.  Haflway through, you can stop for a refreshment at Gretel’s cabin, there are no toilets so do go before going on the walk.

3.    Real Ice Rink –Helmets and pads offered free of charge with your blades. They are even doing a ‘Disco on Ice’ every Friday until the 1st of Jan from 6.30 to 8.30pm.  Make sure to wrap up warm and bring waterproofs.  Penguins are avail on a first come, first serve basis for children under a certain height.  Children under 4 should not skate. All children under 8 should be accompanied.

4.    Nordic Ski Trail –(cross country skiing) is great exercise and you get to catch a glimpse of the Enchanted Forest along the way.

There is an outdoor playground area as well as an indoor play area which has a Wendy house, wooden train and lego. The Woodlands Café looks lovely and Christmassy and is located next to the Christmas Shop where you will find something for everyone.

Don’t forget to visit the award winning Santa’s grotto.

Did you know that Stockeld Park sells real Christmas trees?
