In association with The Best of Harrogate, Harrogate Borough Council has launched the Shining Lights Business Competition. Business can enter one or all of the following categories:
The Brand Beacon (Sponsored by NY Design) – shining a light on those businesses that have either launched a new brand, used imaginative marketing, demonstrated effective marketing spend or have built an impressive new business sales pipeline.
The Ops Lighthouse (Sponsored by Kula Hub) – shining a light on those businesses that have either found innovative solutions to problems, streamlined their operations, developed new processes, or have embraced new technology to save either time or money.
The Peoples Spotlight (Sponsored by ZW Coaching) – shining a light on those businesses that have either helped others to shine by showing a commitment to continued professional development, developed strong management techniques, developed virtual teams or have invested in relationships with customers.
Across all categories judges will be looking to reward previous success and innovative solutions to problems. Businesses will also need to demonstrate plans to drive their businesses forward.
Supported by the judges; Lucy Hind (Covance), Mark Roberts (Beer Hawk), John Dodgson (Barclays Bank), Alex Hewitt (The Best of Harrogate) and Cllr Graham Swift (Harrogate Borough Council) each category winner will benefit from £1,000 cash and £1,000 of in-kind support provided by our category sponsors. The runners up can win up to £500 cash and £500 of in-kind support. The overall winner will secure additional £2,000 cash.
The aim of the competition is to reward and support new, Harrogate district based businesses to take their business to the next stage.

Every business that enters the competition gains access to: a series of workshops covering the three categories; an invaluable networking experience; and peer-to-peer learning / mentoring opportunities.
