Calling all runners and joggers! People of all abilities are being encouraged to take part in the annual Wetherby Run on September 9th.

Wetherby Runners (the brains of the operation!) are organising the 10K run and the Moores Mini Marathon fun run to raise funds for the Shaun Lee Johnston Fund. The club are expecting about a thousand runners to pull on their shoes and join in - particular after a surge in interest due to the Olympics.

Race Director Rob Gray said: “We welcome all abilities and are proud to encourage and actively support runners who are new to this kind of activity.

“There are plenty of places left at the moment but we expect a surge in interest in the coming weeks as the London Olympic TV and media coverage begins to focus in on athletics during the games and also the Paralympic Games which follow later in the month.

The club is also planning a taster evening this month for beginners and more experienced runners who are looking to compete in their first major event.

Entry to the Wetherby run is £11 for club runners and £13 for unattached runners. You can enter online at www.wetherbyrunnersac.co.uk or pick up a form at Wetherby Swimming Pool, Wetherby Sports Association and Wetherby Library.
