New Year’s Eve is a great night to contemplate what you’ve done and plan where you’re heading.  A night to meet with friends and party or stay home and chill.  Fireworks are a big part of this celebration, so we’ve got some tips to keep you safe:

Fireworks are dangerous:

  • Buy them from reputable shops

  • Make sure they have ‘BS 7114’ written on the box

  • Store them safely in a metal box

  • Do not expose them to damp or an open flame

  • Only one person should set them off - keep an arm’s length away

  • Keep a bucket of water to hand

  • Always read the instructions

  • Dispose of them by soaking them in water and then into the refuse

  • DO NOT EVER go back to an unlit firework!

  • Sparklers – it is illegal for children under 5 yrs to hold them – they 5 x hotter than cooking oil! So make sure to wear gloves!

Please remember that there are many homes with pets.  Your local vet will have tips on how to help your pets through noise.  Keep them safe inside.

Make sure to lock up at home and if you are going out drinking, have a designated driver to take you home who will be sober!

What are your  New Year’s resolutions?  Why not share them on our Facebook page?

Have a Happy New Year!
