Inspiring Harrogate

Harrogate and Knaresborough are within, and surrounded by, gorgeous countryside.  There are several lovely places for you to go and explore and it’s only about 1 hr and half to the coast. Places not to be missed include Whitby, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay.

The countryside is an inspiration for several artists, one of them is Mark Sofilas, who migrated over from Australia nearly 10 years ago and started a new career, dedicating his time to beautiful and original oil paintings, created by what he felt as he looked around him and took in the glorious Yorkshire sights.

Mark has cleverly depicted several places around Yorkshire, one of those being Knaresborough riverside.  He is very adept at capturing the essence of the place and you can't help but feel that you are right there in that moment.  If you are interested in buying any prints of his paintings, please visit his website. Alternatively, why not visit one of the galleries exhibiting his work?

A stroll along the Knaresborough waterfront is not to be missed, where you can enjoy a boat ride or choose from several quaint cafes for a well deserved cuppa.

If you are interested in art, why not visit the Mercer Gallery in Harrogate? Or why not go on a short gallery tour with curator Jane Sellars, who will introduce you to a different way of looking at Harrogate's Fine Art Collection.
