30th October 2012

As the 5th of November draws closer you've probably started to organise what you're going to get up to on the night. Whether it's attending an organised display, having one in your own back garden or attending a party there are still steps you must take in order to stay safe on bonfire night.

While it should be fun - and it will be - there are still some safety measures you should take:

  • Do not buy fireworks without a BS7114 mark
  • Make sure they are kept in a close, no flammable box
  • Follow the instructions on the fireworks to the letter, they're there to protect you.
  • Light at arms length when using a taper
  • Stand well back from fireworks once lit
  • Never approach a firework that has already been lit, it could still go off even if it doesn't seem like it
  • Never put fireworks in your pocket
  • Don't throw fireworks
  • Always supervise children around fireworks
  • Never give sparklers to children under 5
  • Wear gloves when handling sparklers

As you're probably aware Stockeld Park are holding the biggest firework display and bonfire in the Wetherby area on Sunday 4th November. It's the ideal way to start off with a bang, the fireworks are set for a 5:30pm start so get there by 5:15pm in order to get a good spot and a fantastic view of the display.

Tickets are priced at £5.50 per person or £20 for a fmily of four, so grab your kids and head down for a fantastic night in the park!
