Blue Monday

What is Blue Monday?  According to Wikipedia, its’ supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, a concept first publicized in 2005, by Sky Travel.  Probably due to the fact that it’s post-Christmas, back to work, back to school, and it being so cold and gloomy (at least in the UK, not in the southern hemisphere like Brazil).  Let’s not forget that it’s also a ‘Monday’.

However, it is now a special day, the concept is now being transformed into a tradition of acts of kindness.

In 2016,  Blue Monday will be on the 18th January.

The acts of kindness should benefit other people and organizations and possibly involve something that you wouldn’t normally do, make it fun, be creative.  Make it a small or large event.

So go out and:

  • Spread some happiness

  • Inspire kindness

  • Bring people together

  • Remind everyone of the benefits of kindness and perhaps they will “pay it forward

Here’s an idea: if you have a purse at home you no longer need or use, why not fill it with snacks, sanitary & hygiene products like pads, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a hairbrush, lip balm, deodorant and other useful things and give it to a homeless woman.

By the way, the Happiest day in the year is sometime in June, close to Midsummer.
