An Evening at Quantro's Restaurant, Harrogate

Having just moved to Harrogate, my wife and I were keen to try one of the best known restaurants in the town.

Quantro's is situated on the edge of the sophisticated Montpellier district in Harrogate, across the road from the impressively lit Crown Hotel at the bottom of Cold Bath Road, on Royal Parade.

The frontage does not immediately stand out but my guests and I were welcomed warmly and shown to our table for four. The drinks were ordered and appeared promptly and the food orders taken when we were ready.

The restaurant interior had a warm ambient feel to it and most of the covers were filled so there was a nice "buzz" to the atmosphere.

Three of my party plumped for the mouth watering Ravioli of Yorkshire Blue Cheese with Caramalised Pear, Asparagus and Spinach in a Chive Sauce, which was superb. Various oohs and aahs were emanating from our table which is always a good sign especially as Meg Ryan was not with us on this occasion!

Duck Spring Rolls with Lime Coleslaw, a Spring Onion Salad and a Plum Reserve went down a treat as the final Starter, and we all realised Quantro's was not going to disappoint.

Main course included a Lamb Rump, Fillet of Beef, a Sea Bass Fillet and a Roast Monkfish. The mains and accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection and all the flavours of the various fayre were savoured down to the last morsel.

The wine list was perfect too - not too extensive to be confusing but with excellent variation both on price and region.

Dessert was too tempting to refuse and the Apple Brioche Pudding with Calvados Cream and Quantro's Sticky Toffee Pudding were both to die for.

The waiting staff were pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We were the last to leave the restaurant but were put under no pressure despite the late hour. All in all a beautiful meal in a top class Harrogate eaterie!
