  • Saturday 11th April 4:00pm until 5:30pm
Multi-award-winning Canadian comedian Phil Nichol returns to stand-up with Trying My Best, his first tour in seven years and a return to the style of comedy that made his name. The show brings together a selection of Phil’s best routines, songs and stories, delivered with his trademark energy, warmth and sharp crowd work.

After several years focusing on acting, including a leading role in Spiegelworld’s cabaret circus hit The Hook, Phil is back on stage doing what he enjoys most. Trying My Best draws from his extensive body of work and mixes classic songs with routines about life as a Canadian in the UK, the frustrations of modern living and observations on British culture and humour.

With his playful spirit and easy rapport with audiences, Phil creates an engaging night of comedy that is lively, unpredictable and full of laughs. As he puts it himself, he has been getting better at comedy since 1987 and continues, with good humour, to try his best.

Phil’s accolades include winning the Edinburgh Comedy Award and the Time Out Comedy Award, receiving a Stage Award for Acting Excellence and a Scotsman Fringe First, being nominated for the Perrier Award, writing and performing more than 23 sold-out Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows, and performing stand-up comedy in over 50 countries worldwide.
