Carrie White is a misfit. At school, she's an outcast who's bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she's at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie's just discovered she's got a special power, and if pushed too far, she's not afraid to use it. Based on Stephen King's bestselling novel, Carrie features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose).
This production will be performed by Showdown Theatre Arts, UK and The Baltimore School for the Arts, USA as part of a decade long annual collaboration of young artists and creatives from either side of the pond who come together to produce outstanding work with just one week together in the USA and another in the UK. Previous productions have been on The Brighton Fringe as well as London’s West End and alumni of this programme are performing around the world on huge stages and big screens. We are thrilled to be back showcasing this programme at Cranleigh Arts for the second consecutive year.
