With festival season officially under way, a care home in Leatherhead is welcoming its local community for a fun-filled afternoon of food and celebration.

On Friday 7th August, Care UK’s Liberham Lodge will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

From 3pm4pm, visitors to Liberham Lodge in Little Bookham can look forward toFrom Plant to Plate, a unique tasting experience in collaboration with the local greengrocers in Bookham, Laytons.

Residents and guests will be able to sample international dishes made with produce either planted by residents in the home’s garden or farmed locally.

Resident Janet Hogg, 93, said: I had a large vegetable garden where me and my sister planted many vegetables. I found this so therapeutic, and it brought me great joy to watch the vegetables and fruit until they were ready for harvest and to cook with them. My favourite foods were vegetable curry and spinach quiche.”

Jagpal Singh, Home Manager at Liberham Lodge, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting our very own food festival!

“We are part of a strong community here in Leatherhead, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our love of food while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.

“The afternoon not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
