Hatchlands Park was built in the 1750s for Admiral Edward Boscawen, hero of the Battle of Louisburg and his wife Fanny, a prolific letter writer and early member of the Blue-stocking circle. \rThe Boscawens gave the Scottish neo-classical architect, Robert Adam, one of his earliest commissions and his work can be seen in interiors throughout the house.
