A tiny chapel surrounded by flowers. Well worth a visit. It's charming. Peaceful find . it's by some holiday cottages but retains a mysterious atmosphere

This is a beautiful little chapel in the heart of what can be considered to be Herm's one and only village, which is really little more than a cluster of houses. The Chapel, which is still in use may be small but it is nevertheless very quaint and peaceful and well worth a look.

I visited both Shell and Belvoir Bay Beaches during my day on Herm and Belvoir was by far my favourite, due to its more sheltered position. If you did not know better, you could almost start to believe that you were in the Caribbean (not that I am rich enough to have been there), or somewhere considerably more exotic. Who though defines what exotic truly means? For me all I want is golden sands, a cool breeze and a sheltered rock to sit on dipping my toes in the water while reading my Kindle - and I got all four. The group of teenagers playing in the water provided entertainment for a while, and were not too distracting to prevent me from reading, and the café when I needed it provided a nice cool drink. Really what more could one want?

Have just returned from another great trip to the White House on Herm an island just off Guernsey. We stayed in a cottage by the hotel which was very comfortable, large bedroom with tea/coffee making facilities. As usual the service, staff and food were excellent. The island is a little bit of paradise.

Call for a lunch, seem to have a new crew running the place compared to last year.
I had squid on a tai salad and am unable to fault it all, the wife had duck breast on a tai salad and she was well pleased with it.Very reasonable price wise, the surroundings have been cleaned up, but the actual plastic Windows etc could do with a high pressure clean and one then be unable to find fault at all.
Will be back.

I had some time to spend between ferries on Guernsey on the 22/06/2017 so I caught the ferry to Herm. The best decision I ever made! I went to the Ship Inn for some lunch in the bar area. The customer service was fantastic and the fish and chips were done to perfection. I wish to Thank Jodie from Aberdeen, Shona from Oban, Annabel from Melbourne, Elle from Herm and Tony the French waiter. ( Please forgive the name spelling if I got them wrong). Thank you for looking after me.

After a day on Herm island we had tea at the White House hotel. It was excellent. Very attentive staff and home made scones. Tea was served at the Ships inn, which has a sheltered courtyard after a walk around the island

Not being a practising Christian, I have not experienced a service here, but friends of ours have. A small church with a close community atmosphere, whether just browsing or partaking of devotions; it is worth a look.

A beautiful small chapel which is still in use and is a tranquil haven. Such an unexpected place to stumble upon up a hill in Herm . Well worth a visit and I would have loved the opportunity to attend a service here.

Having visited Herm many times on day trips it was quite a different experience to stay a couple of nights at The White House ! Once the last ferry has left with the last of the day trippers Herm becomes quite magical and serene and peaceful. The hotel staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing in an olde worlde kind of way . The rooms were immaculate and have their own character! The gardens were beautifully maintained and a joy to explore and the swimming pool was perfect in a hot summers day. Didn't have time for a game of tennis but maybe next time !

You do not need to go to the Caribbean when this bay is so close to England and France. Crystal clear, bracing water makes it worth the hike from the harbour

Good food and service with friendly, attentive staff. We chose to dine in the courtyard as it was a lovely day but our table did not sport an umbrella like some of the other tables, so they should sort this out, although the restaurant area is nice and it is air conditioned if you want to stay out of the heat.

We used a Seafaris rib to get from Jersey to Herm (a different review!) on what turned out to be a very sunny, calm and fast crossing. Disembarked just round from the harbour and a short walk to the only hotel, shops and restaurants. Nothing is very far away but everything to see; the scenery is beautiful. Well maintained and reasonably easy walks around the Island, or relaxing on beaches. The White House restaurant outside in the sun was buzzing, good food (lobster was delicious) and excellent friendly staff dealing with a vast amount of people very well. Will definitely stay over next time. Well done Herm.

Not sure what I expected but really glad that we visited St Tuguals chapel, a lovely place and so peaceful, it takes you back in time.

We stayed at this hotel as part of an island hopping trip
Very welcoming staff and lovely rooms however there is some issues with nowhere to plug the kettle in for in room drink making or plugging in electrical items. Not a well planned out room
Evening meals were great with first class service and interesting menu
Certainly a great place to get away from the modern world whilst retaining a great personal service

Charming attractive beach with Kiosk. White sand. Benches on a terrace overlooking the beautiful beach. Drinks with some food, hot dogs, sandwiches. Cappuccino or ordinary instant coffee.

Lovely outdoor setting attentive staff. Excellent choices on the menu. In particular the fried squid with salad was very good with a Thai salad. Also the hot cooked salmon baguette. The dry rosé went down well. They do a bacon breakfast offer and 3.00pm afternoon tea.

We stayed in a cottage room which was very clean and comfortable. Food was good quality and quantity. And the staff reasonably efficient. It seemed to lack a little character and staff were efficient rather than caring. Nothing wrong with place which is in a fantastic setting on a fantastic island. I would stay again. But think the hotel has a slightly pompous attitude.

We have never stayed in the White House Hotel before (bad admission on our part!). The standard of the Hotel was way above what we expected. Stayed in Harbour Cottage for two nights and the quality, size and comfort of this cottage is 100%. Excellent bedding, towels and toiletries. My only (minor) gripe is that tissues were supplied but no facial cottonwool pads. A small posy of flowers in the lounge area of the bedroom would have been appreciated. The wif-fi connection is very good.
The breakfasts in the conservatory were very good, with a large selection of continental and cooked meals available. Dinner in the Conservatory Restaurant was very good - a very high standard. Both nights there was a different set menu, with very delicious choices. The wine list, for choice and price, was one of the best we have come across in a long time.
Overall staff were excellent and very friendly. Would have appreciated the lawnmowing staff to have asked us if we would move for a few minutes rather than trying to mow around us! They had the earmuffs, we didn't!!
Herm doesn't have any cars but there are many tractors and this can interrupt the tranquillity at times.
We will certainly be staying at the White House again.

Solo visit on business, so single room. Decent room, adequate size and comfortable.
Carpet/paintwork in corridors in need of a refurb but public areas are kept in very good order. Freeflow tea and coffee in residents lounge a nice touch.

The island and hotel location are superb and I loved my visit. Excellent staff across the board. I didn't eat at the hotel so cant comment on the food, the restaurant dinner at £34 for 4 course menu was pricey I felt but totally inflexible, why not be able to buy just 1 or 2 courses, being solo I didn't want to spend all evening in the restaurant.

Tiny chapel on the island, has a beautiful location and is covered in million flowers. Great place to find some peace and quiet away from the crowdy beaches and busy Tavern. Nice stop to do along your walk through the village.

The weather was very hot and humid so we avoided the tables set up in the courtyard and took a table in the air conditioned dining room. We had had an urge for lobster and chips since leaving London and there was no problem providing it - fabulous with regular checks from the lovely crew to keep the drinks topped up (no driving here!) a good time was had by all.

But oh so worth the climb.
Small and cute no act beach bay with sand and water perfect for swimming in (although not warm sea!).
The walk to the bay is stunning but a steep decline so beware if unsteady on your feet. The path is as you'd expect in Herm as it's sandy and not flat (not big tarmac roads here).
We hired parasols for £2 (plus £1 deposit) and as it was a roasting day we were very appreciative of them. The cafe serves a range of food, iced and drinks, up stable steps from the beach, and has some picnic benches on the patio that are available to use.
A little gem of a beach and defiantly worth the steep climb back up again afterwards...it helps work off the ice cream for sure!!
