AN IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT FOR ALZHEIMERS AND DEMENTIA SUFFERERS IN GERRARDS CROSS AND SOUTH BUCKS!

Home Instead’s first Caregiver to complete the advanced Alzheimer’s Training course was recently presented with her official document of accreditation at the South Bucks office. Devised exclusively for Home Instead Caregivers in partnership with The George C Glenner Alzheimer Family Centre in California USA, the purpose made training programme provides Caregivers with a wide assortment of skills and strategies for caring for clients with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia successfully, together with:        

  • An ability to recognise the symptoms of Alzheimer’s and diseases that present in a similar way. 
  • An ability to build empathy with sufferers.
  • Enabling a working relationship within the client’s own residence.
  • Managing demanding behaviours’.
  • Helping those with the disease continue to be independent for as long as is practicable.  

Care Manager, Caroline Major, for Home Instead South Bucks, said, “This training programme, of necessity, demanded quite substantial commitment to learning by Lorna, and culminated in three timed exams. This demonstrates Lorna’s dedication to delivering the outstanding service Home Instead clients always get to those who suffer from this type of condition.” Thrilled to be the first to complete the remarkable course, Lorna said, “When I was asked if I would be happy to undertake the Alzheimer's Training course it looked like it would be a good opportunity for me to learn lots more about all aspects of Alzheimer's and dementia.  The course material was even  more interesting than I imagined. I know that now I will be able to refer to it and apply all the knowledge that I have gained to care for my clients in a really constructive and inspiring way both for them and for myself." Home Instead South Bucks franchise owner, Michael Lawson, presented his own congratulations to Lorna saying, “The commitment Lorna and 5 other Caregivers’ who have undertaken the Advanced Alzheimer’s Training programme have shown demonstrates Home Instead’s desire to offer clients the best service possible.
